The Morris & Sons Giveaway #3 is go!

2015-03-08 10.17.38

4 x 50 gram balls of Morris Paddington, one each of Piper, Dutch Teal, Newspaper and Mandarin. You can enter on ravelry, on facebook, and on Instagram: the details of how to enter will be in these places when it it is live. This will be drawn on the 21st and announced on the 22nd March in Episode 46.

The Canberra Show:

I did very well this year: a Reserve Champion, two Firsts, four Seconds, three Thirds and two Highly Commended.2015-02-27 16.58.26

2015-02-27 17.01.38

2015-02-27 16.55.46

Some bizarre feedback again!

On the Needles:

Queen Maud is past the tasty charts and now a tad boring.

2015-02-26 21.11.51

I’m considering using snap tape for the closures in lieu of buttons, as gaping seems to be an issue in the finished cardigans I’ve seen on ravelry. I’d love to hear from you if you have experience or advice about snap tape!

I finished my All of the Rainbows BFL/Silk socks yesterday!

2015-03-07 20.12.12

I forgot to mention it, but I also knitted a swatch so I could test their machine wash-ability. Like a grown up! The swatch was fine, by the way.

Knot on my Watch:

I made an accidental-Leprechaun baby bobble beard crochet beanie for a brand new friend.

2015-02-28 16.57.51

Pattern from here.

Tree Change Dolls:

Three dolls now have faces! That first image is the before and after of the same doll. It’s kind of amazing,

2015-02-24 17.31.59

2015-03-06 16.56.34

I’m pretty happy with how they’re going. My brain is still tickled…

And I ponder, for IWD, unnecessary apologies. I am aiming for gratitude, not guilt.

Peace out,

Ms Spider xo

Episode 44 Show Notes

Late also! Episode 44 can be found here and here.

The winner of the second giveaway was announced. Morris and Sons Giveaway #3 delayed until the 8th March.

Ask Me Anything: I answer a question about multi-tasking while knitting. Juliet Stevenson’s wonderful audible recordings are here, in case you are interested. Questions welcome here.

On the Needles:

Still three pairs of socks on the go.

I finished off a Tulips Cardigan for my pregnant friend (upside down, upside down).

2015-02-22 13.05.48

3rd attempt at Queen Maud is proving successful (thanks goodness!).

2015-02-24 08.09.43

Spinning:

I’m spinning some BFL/silk in grassy greens, for more long-draw practice. Probably a long-term project!

Stash acquisition:

Olive Rainbow sock from fabfunkyfibres, a birthday gift to myself.

2015-02-20 17.08.39

And I finally remembered to welcome new listeners! Woo! On a roll! Introduce yourself here, and I will welcome you 🙂

Peace out,

Ms Spider

More dot points:

–          Libby and I went to the Creative Textiles Show at the Convention Centre in Canberra.

QOvwPzxmFlgRyMwbk31ld2Qhhp35ODsjdroPBDO8nCQ

I spent a lot of money at Yarn Glorious Yarn and walked away with two garments worth of Madtosh tosh dk in Coquette and Fog.

Yv3NQ_aH0rl1R9al7mGoqV8TJqK3o5HhbZst7g4q_vY

–          I also bought some fabric and a book: Modern Bee

uO6IIzvaeCTMLEh9UUPsO_gkIKGpYkZTY2yAk98iwR0

–          I acquired another booke: Material Obsession 2

–          I remembered to show off my Squirrel Cardigan

7lWX6ms3CkrSHpwG0dq9QU3Loa_2R224AsOJb2vaAuk

JWeLyCDtI_pFMvHVT4EoUJwsZGFtGFuVMHlq6xP-l_o

–          I finished the sleeves of my Marion Cardigan, and was not super happy with it. Mostly my own fault for playing fast and loose with guage and choosing the wrong yarn.

XczScHiVKLbAhwbFSScv8el_toCOcxBKELIa6fevruk

–          I learned how to spin long-draw and spun some yummy 3ply from a floofy, dreamy Nunnabar bat

QSShzUBySVd_Qi20GkeKr8uAeevaXZI2ZmGloNi8F94

–          I talk about a failed project from the past: my Vonica cardigan. If it sounds like your thing, let me know! I’m never going to wear it…

Peace out

Episode 10 Show Notes

Back again after a brief hiatus! You can find episode 10 here and here.

I ponder the etiquette of online grammar and spelling pedantry.

I finish my Magrathea (with nearly a week spare for the KAL).

IMG_9206

IMG_9208

I finish the body of my Filtered Pullover, and had great fun dropping all the ladder stitches. Only the waistband and collar remain! Before all stitches have been unravelled (so short!).

IMG_9211

Blocking to get a sense of the true length.

IMG_9212

IMG_9213

I’m crocheting some blanket squares for the NSW Knitter’s Guild bushfire appeal:

Relief organisers need large numbers of blankets over the next few days and weeks so any help the knitters and crocheters of the Guild can offer would be very gratefully received.

Please knit or crochet 25cm squares – no need to block or sew in ends (leave long ends for sewing up) – and let us know the yarn content ( so we can match wool with wool, acrylic with acrylic etc).

Send to
Knitters’ Guild NSW Inc
P O Box 460
Epping, NSW 2121

Or email PresidentATknittersguildnswDOTorgDOTau for further information or alternative drop-off points.

Our team of volunteers is standing by to sew these together.

I finish spinning my Darkened Skies merino.

I rave about my gorgeous new project sack from buttontree lane.

I went to the Alpaca Magic open day and purchased some gorgeous alpaca tops. Lookit! Baby alpaca!

IMG_1270

This is the alpaca that was trying to run me over/cuddle me.

IMG_1248

I discovered a long-forgotten WIPthe Pinnet/Pinnate cardigan by Amy Christoffers.

IMG_9222

IMG_9223

Should I suck it up and finish the sleeves before I move on to my Geodesic Cardigan?

Peace out

Ms Spider xo
